The Umbrian region is mostly rural and is dotted with hilltop towns, farmland and forests. Yet this area of Italy is packed with interesting things to see and do. While it is tempting to simply laze around the pool, or take a nap in a handy hammock, our on-site custodians are available to organize yoga retreats, cooking classes or sightseeing tours.

Santa Caterina is ideally located within short driving distance to many historic towns such as Deruta, famous for its beautiful ceramics; Gubbio, a genuine medieval town where Franco Zeffirelli filmed his “Romeo & Juliet”; Assisi, with its magnificent basilica dedicated to St. Francis; and the lively university town of Perugia.  Many quaint and charming wine producing villages can also be explored during day trips in both Umbria and Toscana.
